Athlete Creditor Privacy Policy

Effective September 24, 2026 · Last updated September 24, 2026

1. Who we are

Athlete Creditor is operated by Grand Teton Systems Inc. (“Grand Teton Systems,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), which is the controller of the personal information described here. This policy covers athletecreditor.com (the “Site”) and the purchase of House v. NCAA settlement claims (the “Services”).

We buy settlement claims from former NCAA Division I athletes. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by the NCAA, and we are not the settlement administrator. We do not represent you and we do not give legal or tax advice.

2. You must be 18 or older

The Site and Services are for adults only. Everyone who sells a claim completes identity verification that includes date of birth from a government-issued ID, so we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we delete it.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Information you give us

  • Contact details — name, email address, phone number, and your Instagram handle if you provide one.
  • Claim details — your NCAA Eligibility ID, Claim ID and PIN, schools attended, sport played, years played, whether you held a scholarship, and your estimated claim amount.
  • Financial account information — bank account number, ACH routing number, and account type, so we can pay you.
  • Tax information — a completed IRS Form W-9 or W-8, which includes your full Social Security Number or taxpayer identification number. We are required to collect this to report payments to you.
  • Identity verification — government-issued identification and date of birth, collected through our verification provider.
  • State of residence, because some states restrict whether we may buy a claim at all.
  • Anything you write to us — email, chat messages, and call content where a call is recorded.

3.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device and connection — IP address, browser and operating system, and approximate location derived from IP address.
  • Usage — pages viewed, links clicked, referring page, and how far you got in the claim form.
  • Advertising identifiers — cookies set by the advertising services in section 6, and the click identifiers gclid, gbraid, wbraid, fbclid and li_fat_id when you arrive from an ad. These are kept in your browser for up to 90 days and stored with your sign-up so we can tell which advertising produced a completed sale.

You can turn analytics and advertising off at any time on our Your Privacy Choices page, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals automatically.

3.3 Information from others

  • The settlement administrator (Verita) and the NCAA Eligibility Center — claim and eligibility details, where you have authorised us to retrieve them.
  • Our identity verification provider — the result of your check.
  • Someone who referred you — your name and contact details, if they gave them to us.

4. How we use it

  • To value your claim, make you an offer, and complete the purchase.
  • To verify your identity and comply with anti-money-laundering obligations.
  • To pay you, and to report those payments to tax authorities.
  • To collect the settlement payments on a claim we have bought.
  • To decide whether state law permits us to buy from you.
  • To support you, answer questions, and send service messages about your claim.
  • To measure and target advertising, and to pay referral commissions — unless you have opted out.
  • To detect fraud, secure the Site, and enforce our terms.

5. How we share it

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do share identifiers and activity with advertising services for cross-context behavioural advertising, which counts as “sharing” under California law and as “targeted advertising” under other state laws. Section 6 names them and explains how to stop it.

We also share with:

  • Service providers who work on our behalf: Sumsub (identity verification), DocuSign (agreement signing), OneNotary (notarisation of the Limited Power of Attorney), our payment and banking partners, Supabase and Amazon Web Services (hosting and storage), Vercel (website hosting), Pipedream (internal data workflows), Sentry (error monitoring) and Crisp (support chat).
  • The settlement administrator and the courts, to record the assignment of a claim we have purchased and to collect payments on it.
  • Tax authorities, as required for payment reporting.
  • Someone who referred you — only your name, and only if you agreed to that when you signed up.
  • Professional advisers, regulators, or law enforcement where the law requires it or to protect people from fraud or harm.
  • A buyer or successor, if the business is sold or merged.

We never send your Social Security Number, tax forms, bank account details, or identification documents to any advertising or analytics service.

6. Cookies, analytics and advertising

The Site uses three groups of technologies.

Strictly necessary

Always on. These run the Site and keep it secure: Vercel (hosting), Sentry (error monitoring), Crisp (support chat), and the storage that remembers your privacy choices. They are not used for advertising.

Analytics

Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics, used to understand which pages athletes use and where the claim form causes trouble.

Advertising

Google Ads, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), LinkedIn and OpenAI. These set cookies and receive identifiers and page activity so we can measure which advertising led to a completed claim sale and show ads to people who visited but did not finish. This is the “sharing” described in section 5.

To turn analytics or advertising off, visit Your Privacy Choices. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal we treat it as an opt-out of advertising without you having to do anything. Turning these off deletes the advertising cookies and click identifiers already stored in that browser, and never affects your offer, your claim, or your ability to use the Site.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you and how we use it, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to have it deleted, to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising, to limit how we use sensitive personal information, and not to be treated differently for exercising any of these.

Your Social Security Number, financial account details and identification documents are sensitive personal information. We use them only to provide the Services, verify identity, pay you, and meet legal obligations — never to infer characteristics about you and never for advertising.

Some information we cannot delete on request, because we are required to keep it — tax records of payments made to you, and records of a claim you have already sold.

To make a request, email claims@athletecreditor.com. We will ask you to verify your identity before we act, and we will respond within the time your state’s law allows. You may use an authorised agent; we will ask for proof of their authority.

8. How long we keep it

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it, and then for as long as the law requires. In practice that means: enquiry and sign-up information for as long as you may still sell a claim to us; records of a completed purchase for as long as we may receive settlement payments on that claim and for any applicable limitation period afterwards; tax records for the period tax law requires; and analytics and advertising identifiers for the retention period of the service concerned, or 90 days for the click identifiers we store ourselves.

9. Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and limit who can see sensitive information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Where your information is held

We operate in the United States and our Services are directed at people in the United States. If you access the Site from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States.

11. Other sites

The Site links to places we do not control, including the settlement administrator and the official settlement website. Their privacy practices are their own.

12. Changes

We will post any change here and update the date at the top. We review this policy at least once a year.

WARNING ABOUT POTENTIAL TAX CONSEQUENCES

Seller ("you") should seek advice from a registered tax preparer or competent tax advisor about your tax obligations for any payments that you are entitled to receive under the Settlement. However, the Court overseeing the Settlement has directed us to provide the following disclosure:

THE TAX CONSEQUENCES OF ANY AGREEMENT YOU SIGN REGARDING YOUR CLAIM MAY VARY DEPENDING ON THE SPECIFIC TERMS OF THAT AGREEMENT. WITH CERTAIN TRANSACTION STRUCTURES, YOU MAY BE REQUIRED TO PAY INCOME TAXES ON THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE PAYMENTS THAT YOU ARE ENTITLED TO UNDER THE SETTLEMENT (EVEN IF THE RESULTING TAX LIABILITY EXCEEDS THE AMOUNT YOU RECEIVED UNDER THE AGREEMENT).

A TRANSACTION STRUCTURED AS AN OUTRIGHT OR "TRUE" SALE MAY REMOVE FUTURE SETTLEMENT PAYMENTS FROM YOUR GROSS INCOME FOR FEDERAL AND STATE INCOME TAX PURPOSES, IN WHICH CASE YOU WOULD INSTEAD LIKELY PAY TAX ON THE PURCHASE PRICE YOU RECEIVE. AS A RESULT OF A SALE, YOU WOULD ALSO BE FORFEITING ANY AND ALL RIGHTS TO RECEIVE ADDITIONAL INCOME OR FUTURE PAYMENTS UNDER THE FOURTH AMENDED STIPULATION AND SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT, IN RE: COLLEGE ATHLETE NIL LITIGATION, NO. 4:20-CV-03919 (THE "SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT"). YOU SHOULD CONSULT WITH A COMPETENT TAX ADVISOR REGARDING THE SPECIFIC TAX CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR PARTICULAR AGREEMENT BEFORE SIGNING THE AGREEMENT.

Additional information, including information about the potential tax consequences of selling your right to receive settlement payments, may be found on the Settlement website at: https://www.collegeathletecompensation.com/frequently-asked-questions.aspx.
